Grass carp is one of the four major freshwater fish in China. Its delicious meat and affordable price make it highly popular with consumers, and its aquaculture prospects are promising. However, to successfully raise grass carp, effective disease prevention and control are crucial. So, what medicine is best for sick grass carp? Let's find out below.

1. Enteritis

The main symptoms include intestinal redness, congestion, or bleeding, and a significant decrease in the grass carp's appetite. It is recommended to treat this by spraying disinfectant and administering oral medications such as allicin and antibiotics.

2. Gill rot

The main symptoms are that the inner edge of the gill cover and the edges of the gill filaments lose their blood color, turning grayish-white or pale yellow. The edges of the gill filaments are incomplete, and in severe cases, the inner edge of the gill cover bone ulcerates into holes. Treatment involves adding 5 grams of a gill rot remedy per kilogram of feed , mixing it well, and feeding it twice a day for three consecutive days.

3. Red skin disease

The main symptoms are bleeding and inflammation on the sides and abdomen of the diseased fish, and some scales may fall off. A decoction of 500g of fresh herbs (including *Gynostemma pentaphyllum *, 300g of *Amaranthus chinensis*, and 200g of *Polygonum hydropiper*) can be mixed with the fish's feed and given for three consecutive days.

4. Saprolegniasis

The main symptom is cotton-like, grayish-white mycelium on the surface of the fish. Disinfection can be performed using povidone-iodine and thioflurane to prevent secondary fungal infections.

5. Hemorrhagic disease

The main symptoms are systemic hemorrhage, with varying degrees of congestion and bleeding in various organs and tissues. During the disease season, the entire pond should be disinfected by applying povidone-iodine. External application of a combination of anti-inflammatory and anti-gill rot medications for 2-3 days is also recommended.

6. Trichodiniasis

The main symptoms are dull, lackluster body color, loss of appetite, and difficulty breathing in the fish. Herbal deworming medication can be mixed into the fish's feed to block the synthesis of parasite enzymes using traditional Chinese medicine. Unable to absorb nutrients, the parasites will die completely.

7. Anchorhead flea disease

The main symptoms are restlessness, loss of appetite, emaciation, and sluggish swimming, eventually leading to death. Treatment can involve insecticides such as potassium permanganate and trichlorfon.
