Avoid prolonged periods without watering. If a succulent shows signs of severe dehydration, its leaves will become dull, soft, and curl inwards. If these symptoms are observed, water immediately.
Succulent watering time
In spring and autumn, temperatures are stable and don't fluctuate much, so just ensure good ventilation when watering. Pay attention to watering times in summer and winter. In summer, water in the morning or evening when temperatures are lower, avoiding midday watering, as the high temperatures can suffocate the roots and easily sunburn the plant. In winter, water at midday when the weather is warm enough to prevent root frost damage, whereas watering in the morning or evening can easily freeze the roots.
Succulent watering methods
When watering, pour water along the edge of the pot, avoiding direct watering downwards. Some succulents have fuzzy or powdery leaves, which can affect their appearance and cause rot if watered directly. You can also use the bottom watering method, where water is slowly transported upwards through the drainage holes and roots. When bottom watering, the water level should be less than half the depth of the pot. Remove the pot when the soil surface is slightly moist and place the plant in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight.
