Preserve the photographs behind the memories

Keep an untouched copy of each original before cropping or improving a photograph. Store another copy somewhere separate from your main device.

Add names, approximate dates and places while people still recognise them. Mark uncertain details as uncertain instead of filling the gaps with guesses.

Create small albums by person, place or period. Ask permission before sharing pictures of living people, and keep identity documents and private addresses out of public albums.
