As we all know, sweet potatoes are delicious but very difficult to preserve. They easily freeze and rot at low temperatures, while sprouting is common at high temperatures. So how should you properly store sweet potatoes you buy? Let's find out below.
1. Store in cardboard boxes
First, sort through the sweet potatoes, removing any damaged or bad ones, keeping only the good ones. Prepare a clean, dry cardboard box, line the bottom with a sheet of paper, then place the sweet potatoes inside, one layer at a time. Then, place another layer of paper on top of the sweet potatoes, and so on, until all the sweet potatoes are placed. Finally, seal the box tightly and store it in a cool, dry place.

2. Store in a sealed plastic bag.
Select sweet potatoes with intact surfaces, wrap each one in paper, and then seal them in an airtight plastic bag. Sweet potatoes stored this way can generally be kept for up to 2 months without any problems.
3. Refrigerate
Wrap the sweet potato completely in plastic wrap, then remove the air. The plastic wrap prevents the surface moisture from evaporating easily. Finally, put it in a clean bag, remove the air, and store it in the refrigerator. When you want to eat it, just take it out and steam it.

4. Sand and soil preservation
Dig a hole in your yard, line it with sand, put in the sweet potatoes, and then cover the surface with another layer of sand. If you don't have a yard, you can use flower pots to store them, covering them with mud and sand. This way, the sweet potatoes can be stored for up to six months without spoiling.
5. Make into dried sweet potatoes
First, boil the sweet potatoes until cooked, then cut them into strips and place them on a large sieve or a large table to dry outdoors. Once they have dried to a certain extent, they can be bagged and stored. When you want to eat them, you can take them out and eat them directly.
