1. Regulate and cool down
Cilantro is a cool-climate vegetable that does not tolerate high temperatures. Its optimal growing temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. Above 20 degrees Celsius, its growth slows significantly, and its quality is affected. Above 30 degrees Celsius, it stops growing altogether, and the leaves turn yellow. In summer temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, cilantro requires artificial regulation. Shade netting should be erected promptly, typically covering it during the day and uncovering it at night to ensure ventilation.
2. Apply fertilizer appropriately
Yellowing cilantro leaves may be due to an overly simplistic nutrient supply during cultivation. Therefore, cilantro should be cared for with a balanced diet, ideally using a NPK compound fertilizer to ensure adequate nutrient absorption. When fertilizing cilantro, dilute the fertilizer before application to avoid fertilizer burn.
3. Replenish fluids
Cilantro thrives in moist environments. Insufficient water during its care will cause it to dry out and its leaves to turn yellow. Therefore, during later stages of cilantro care, it's important to water it thoroughly enough to soak the entire soil layer, ensuring the cilantro absorbs sufficient moisture for optimal growth.
4. Supplement lighting
Cilantro leaves will turn yellow if they don't receive enough light during their growth. Therefore, when caring for cilantro, provide adequate light to allow it to photosynthesize properly. If the light is too strong, provide shade in time to avoid scorching the plant.
5. Alleviate drug damage
Pesticide damage can be alleviated by spraying with brassinolide, gibberellin, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, and urea solution. Yellowing leaves caused by fertilizer damage can be relieved by watering again.
6. Soil pH
Soil acidification, hardening, and poor aeration cause cilantro leaves to turn yellow. This can be addressed by applying more organic fertilizer or farmyard manure, or by deep tilling the soil to reduce acidity.
