Goslings, also known as baby goslings, are still developing in many ways, so proper care and management are essential, with feeding being particularly important. So, what do goslings eat? Let's find out.

What do goslings eat?

Goslings mainly eat broken rice grains, cooked rice, wheat bran , rice bran, green vegetable leaves, cornmeal , rye grass, sow thistle , lettuce leaves, and fruits. For younger goslings, the food should be chopped up and mixed with rice before feeding. As they get older, they can gradually transition to normal feeding and be allowed to drink small amounts of water.

Feeding methods for goslings

1. Drink water first

Before feeding the goslings, give them water to drink. Their diet should mainly consist of green vegetables, such as lettuce leaves. Do not overfeed them to avoid overfeeding them.

2. Wash and chop.

Green fodder such as sow thistle, lettuce leaves, and ryegrass can be washed, chopped, and mixed with broken rice, cooked rice, or complete feed for goslings. For 1-3 day old goslings, mix the concentrated green fodder at a ratio of 1:3. For 4-10 day old goslings, mix at a ratio of 1:10. For goslings over 10 days old, mix at a ratio of 1:15.

3. Feeding amount

The number of times goslings are fed daily should be increased appropriately as they grow older. They should be fed 5 to 6 times a day from 1 to 4 days old, 6 to 8 times a day from 4 to 10 days old, and after 10 days old, they can be fed normally from 5 to 6 times a day to 3 to 4 times a day.

4. Precautions

The feeding method for goslings should follow the principles of "water first, then feed; regular and measured feeding; frequent small feedings; and prevention of overeating." Changes in feed should be gradual, from cooked to raw, and from soft to hard, avoiding sudden and drastic changes.
