Lotus Flower Pastry 🪷 Coconut Pastry Recipe Steps

Put all the ingredients for the oil dough into a bread machine and mix them into a dough.

Knead into a smooth dough, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Next, make the oil-based pastry by mixing lard and low-gluten flour together and kneading it into a dough.

If it's hot, knead it quickly; if it's too sticky, refrigerate it before kneading it into a ball. After kneading, refrigerate it for a while.

Take out the oily dough and divide it into 20 portions, each weighing about 10g.

Take out the oil-based dough and divide it into two portions: one 50g portion and two 25g portions. For the two 25g portions, add two drops of blue food coloring to one and one drop of red food coloring to the other. Leave the 50g portions untouched.

Divide each color of the oil-based dough into 5g portions, roll them into balls, and let them rest. Make 10 basic plain-colored oil-based dough balls, 5 pink ones, and 5 blue ones. Refrigerate them briefly; this will make them less sticky and easier to wrap.

Now let's make coconut shortbread. Put all the ingredients together.

Stir

Shape each 20g into a small ball.

The ball is ready, we'll use it later.

Next, take out all the oil dough and oil-based dough. Wrap one oil dough ball with one oil dough ball. In the end, you will get ten oil dough balls with plain oil dough, five oil dough balls with pink oil dough, and five oil dough balls with blue oil dough.

You should be able to see some color.

Take a dough ball, roll it out gently from the center upwards and downwards into an oval shape, then roll it up.

Roll everything up, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest for ten minutes. In cold weather, extend the resting time by 5-10 minutes.

After resting, repeat the previous steps: roll it out, roll it up, and let it rest for another ten minutes.

Step 1: Take a piece of plain dough, pinch it in the middle, roll it into a ball, and then roll it out into a circle.

The second step is to take a pink or blue dough ball and roll it into a circle, but make it slightly larger than the original color one.

The original colored dough is placed on top of the blue or pink dough, overlapping as shown in the picture.

Add coconut filling

Tighten your thumb and forefinger little by little until the opening is closed.

With the opening facing down, rounded.

Use a knife to make a cross shape and place it over the filling.

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius

Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius (340 degrees Fahrenheit) for 25 minutes.

If the coconut flakes start to brown, cover them with aluminum foil as soon as possible.

The beautiful lotus-shaped pastries are ready!
