Chinese cabbage is a widely planted vegetable in autumn, and it's a very popular vegetable in both the north and south. What fertilizer makes Chinese cabbage grow quickly and large? Let's find out.
1. Farmyard manure
In rural areas, farmyard manure is commonly used when planting Chinese cabbage. Commonly used manure includes cow dung, sheep manure, and chicken manure. The advantage of using farmyard manure is that it loosens the soil and increases its organic matter and humus content. Sheep manure is often chosen for Chinese cabbage because it is a slow-release manure with long-lasting fertility. This ensures that the Chinese cabbage has a constant supply of nutrients throughout its growing season, resulting in faster and larger growth.

2. Nitrogen fertilizer
Chinese cabbage needs nitrogen fertilizer throughout its entire growth period, especially before the head forms, as nitrogen fertilizer promotes rapid leaf growth.
3. Compound fertilizer
When fertilizing Chinese cabbage, you can use compound fertilizer. Generally, use about 50 catties of 315 compound fertilizer per mu (approximately 0.067 hectares). It contains nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, so you don't need to worry about nutrient deficiencies. Alternatively, you can mix your own fertilizer, which is cheaper and can meet the needs of Chinese cabbage growth. Use 20-25 catties of urea and 10 catties of potassium sulfate per mu.
4. Foliar fertilizer
There are many types of foliar fertilizers, such as wood ash alone, which is excellent during the seedling stage, supplementing potassium while preventing pests. Foliar fertilizer can be applied dry to the roots of cabbage, especially on sunny mornings when there is dew. Apply a layer to the roots and also to the leaves; the effect is very good.

5. Urea
One week after the cabbage seedlings are thinned, make a small hole about 5 cm away from the root system and apply urea into the hole. The amount used is about 15-25 kg per acre. Water thoroughly immediately after application. For fertile soil, one application of urea is usually sufficient. If the soil is poor, wait until the cabbage heads form and apply about 20 kg of urea per acre along with watering. This will help the cabbage grow faster and larger.
6. Compost
Cabbage grown using plant roots, stems, leaves, and fertilizer from rotten or sweet-tasting fruits or fruit peels, along with urine, not only grows well and quickly, but also has a slightly sweet taste in its leaves, and the leaves are very crisp and delicious.
