Radish seeds usually need to be soaked before sowing to improve germination rate and promote water absorption. So how long should radish seeds be soaked before sowing? Let's find out below.
How long should radish seeds be soaked before sowing?
Generally, radish seeds can be soaked in warm water (about 40-50 degrees Celsius) for 2-4 hours. After soaking, the seed surface will become softer, which helps the seeds absorb water and nutrients, thereby promoting germination.

How to germinate radish seeds?
1. Soaking and germination method
Soak carrot seeds in warm water for 2-4 hours, then remove them and place them in a damp gauze bag. Keep them moist at 20-25℃ to promote germination until most of the seeds show white sprouts, at which point they are ready for sowing.
2. Sandy soil germination method
Thoroughly mix the radish seeds with moist sand. After mixing, place the mixture in a sealed plastic bag or container and store it in an environment of 25-30℃. Turn the mixture over every 2-3 days to keep the sand moist. The seeds should germinate in about a week.
3. Temperature difference-induced germination method
During the day, place the seeds in a warm environment (20-25℃), and at night, move them to a slightly cooler place (10-15℃). This temperature difference can stimulate the physiological reactions inside the radish seeds and accelerate the germination process.

4. Covering with a damp cloth to promote germination
Soak radish seeds in a 25% hydrogen peroxide solution for 30-50 minutes, then rinse with clean water and cover with a damp cloth to promote germination. Generally, more than 85% of the seeds will germinate in 7-8 days.
5. Refrigerator Germination Method
Wrap the radish seeds in a damp gauze, place them in a sealed plastic bag or container, and then put them in the refrigerator (generally around 4℃). Take them out daily, rinse them thoroughly with tap water, and then return them to the refrigerator. Repeat this process until the seeds germinate.
