Peanuts are most susceptible to damage from chlorine-containing compound fertilizers ; it's best to use compound fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and other nutrients.
What is the best compound fertilizer for growing peanuts?
To meet the growth requirements of peanuts, compound fertilizers containing nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium can be selected. Generally, common types of compound fertilizers include ternary compound fertilizers and binary compound fertilizers. Ternary compound fertilizers contain nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, comprehensively meeting the nutritional needs of peanuts. Binary compound fertilizers contain nitrogen and phosphorus or nitrogen and potassium, suitable for specific soil conditions and growth requirements in particular regions.
Compound fertilizer is a type of fertilizer with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium as its main nutrients. Compared to single-nutrient fertilizers, compound fertilizers have the advantages of comprehensive nutrient content and convenient application, making them a commonly used fertilizer for peanuts. Compound fertilizers with a nutrient ratio of 15-15-15 or 18-18-18 are usually selected for application. When applying compound fertilizer, it can be evenly spread on the peanut rows and then gently covered with soil.
How should peanuts be fertilized?
1. Base fertilizer
Peanut base fertilizer should account for more than 80% of the total fertilizer. Generally, 3,000 kg of organic fertilizer and 20 kg of superphosphate can be mixed per mu and applied as base fertilizer.
2. Seedling stage
Fertilization during the peanut seedling stage can promote early growth, strong seedlings, and abundant branches. Generally, 3-5 kg of urea or 30-40 catties of compound fertilizer can be applied per acre, either by broadcasting or by trenching.
3. Flowering stage
After peanuts enter the pegging stage, the plant growth gradually becomes vigorous, and the demand for water and fertilizer increases sharply. At this time, 10-15 kg of superphosphate or 10-15 kg of potassium sulfate can be applied per acre as a top dressing, or a 2%-3% superphosphate solution can be sprayed on the leaves. For nitrogen- and zinc-deficient fields, 5-10 kg of urea can also be applied as a top dressing, and a 0.2% zinc sulfate solution can be sprayed on the leaves.
4. Flowering and pod-setting period
Apply 20-30 kg of potassium sulfate per mu as a top dressing, and in conjunction with the control of flowering plant diseases and pests, use 150 g of 99% potassium dihydrogen phosphate per mu, diluted in 30 kg of water, and spray evenly. This can significantly improve the fruit setting rate and promote pod enlargement.
